  • I knew from an early age that I wanted to be a Psychologist. I devoured books growing up (and still do!) and am fascinated by the complexity of the human mind and why we do the things we do.

    I spent the bulk of my 20s and early 30s in grad school, attending lectures, accruing hundreds of hours of supervised clinical training hours (more than 3,000 hours), and writing my PhD dissertation, all in an effort to be in the best position possible to be able to help others.

    Education/Training: I earned my PhD from an accredited Clinical Psychology program at the University of Toronto in 2020 and am licensed to work with adults. My dissertation research focused on social media and body image issues in emerging adults (ages 18-29).

    I have worked in a wide range of settings, including inpatient and outpatient eating disorders hospital programs (i.e, North York General Hospital eating disorders outpatient program; Eastern Health in Newfoundland inpatient and day hospital programs); a rehabilitation for brain injury hospital program at Eastern Health; McMaster University counselling centre; the OISE Psychology Clinic; Toronto Western Hospital chronic pain program; and private practices in the GTA.

    During my year-long CPA-accredited residency, I assessed and treated adults with eating disorders in both inpatient and outpatient settings, in St. John’s, Newfoundland, and also completed supervised training in a community mental health setting where I treated adults struggling with a variety of mental health concerns.

    Further, I completed one year of postdoctoral supervised practice in my current areas of practice.

    Pregnancy and Postpartum focus: I am a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Provider with Postpartum Support International, and also hold a certificate in Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT; Level A) from the IPT Institute.

    Perimenopause and Menopause: I have obtained additional training in the assessment and treatment of psychological issues arising during the transition to and through menopause, and take an integrative approach for the treatment of struggles occurring during menopause, perimenopause, and post-menopause, interweaving modalities such as CBT, IPT, and ACT.

    My Approach:‍ ‍In therapy, I work from a cognitive-behavioural perspective using CBT and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT). I integrate elements of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and emotion-focused approaches when appropriate. When working with adults with eating issues, I integrate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy-Enhanced (CBT-E) with ACT.

    I’m a mother to two young children, and have been practicing and teaching yoga for over 20 years. I love music, and spending time outdoors in all seasons.

  • I earned my Masters of Science in Mental Health Counselling from Long Island University in Brooklyn, New York and am licensed to work with Adults. My clinical experience includes work at multiple outpatient mental health clinics with a variety of clients, from children to adults, under a multicultural lens. I treat a broad range of client concerns, including anxiety, depression, panic disorder, grief, and managing life transitions.

    I fortified my expertise at a women’s health clinic specializing in postpartum depression, with additional training and certification in the perinatal period. In addition, I provide couples treatment in the context of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. I am passionate about providing a safe space for unfettered communication while using models that include CBT, Narrative Therapy, and Mindfulness Interventions.

    I enjoy exploring the world through the eyes of my toddler and "furry dog daughter".

Iman Musani, M.A

  • I am a PhD student in Clinical and Counselling Psychology at the University of Toronto, currently practicing at Shoreacres under the supervision of Dr. Sarah Haller. My clinical training has taken place across diverse settings, including hospitals, university clinics, and private practices.

    In therapy, I prioritize building a strong, trusting relationship and creating a space where you feel safe exploring the parts of yourself that feel overwhelming, confusing, or vulnerable. I approach therapy primarily from a Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) framework, with a focus on working with you to understand and navigate painful emotions (e.g., anger, overwhelming sadness) that may be impacting your relationships, work, or overall well-being. I also integrate principles from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) where appropriate.

    I work from a trauma-informed lens and support older adolescents and young adults facing a variety of challenges, including depression, anxiety, personality disorders, trauma, and eating-related concerns.

    I offer a limited number of reduced-fee spaces based on financial need. Please reach out for more information!

    Outside of therapy, you will find me on long walks, at a spin class, or on my relentless quest to find the best ice cream in Toronto.
